This policy covers Japan Life Calc (this website) only: what data is collected when you visit, and why. It does not cover any other site you may reach by following a link from here.

Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. Your rent, salary, or any other figure you type in is never sent to our servers, never stored, and never seen by us — it exists only in your browser's memory while the page is open.

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and which calculators people use, in aggregate. It sets cookies and collects information such as your approximate location (derived from IP address, not the exact address), device and browser type, and which pages you view. Google may process this data outside your own country.

You can opt out at any time using a browser extension such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies from *.google-analytics.com and *.googletagmanager.com in your browser settings.

The everyday-prices page and currency conversion pull figures from external services — the Statistics Bureau of Japan's e-Stat API and open.er-api.com — but these calls are made from our server, not your browser. Neither service ever receives your IP address or any information about you personally.

There are no user accounts, no sign-up forms, and no way for us to contact you unless you contact us first. We do not sell, rent, or share any data with advertisers, and we do not run advertising on this site.

This site is a general-audience reference tool and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If this policy changes, the update date at the top of this page will change too. Since there are no accounts or contact details on file, we cannot notify you directly — check back here if you want the latest version.
